Andy Cowell: Within the mobile space, the devices are becoming more power-hungry.

Mark Downing: The move to the cloud is a big driver for the infrastructure business.

Andy Cowell: The screen has more power. The applications process is more powerful.

Mark Downing: There's a proliferation of voltage rails, network processors, memory, FPGAs.

Andy Cowell: The size of the devices is becoming smaller and thinner.

Mark Downing: More voltage rails in the system, that equates to more DC to DC converters.

Andy Cowell: Everybody wants to integrate as much as they can.

Necip Sayiner: The power management requirements are becoming more complex. You could say that the market is moving more towards our turf. We, for example, have this multiphase modulation capability that is very applicable to a larger set of applications.

Andy Cowell: We have very rich heritage in power management. Some of those techniques are very fast transient response. We can react to loads at very high speeds, we have very high-efficiency solutions, and now, we're evolving this into the smaller geometry and smaller form factors.

Mark Downing: Intersil had a strong heritage in VCORE. What VCORE requires is multi-phase controller technology. Where we're focused now is essentially taking the learnings we have from the multiphase analog era into the digital realm, and so combining the technology we acquired with the experience that we've had over a decade-plus in analog multiphase controllers. We believe that since that market has now moved to a full digital control, that there's a significant opportunity for us with that new platform.

Necip Sayiner: We can certainly take the IP that we have created in Intersil for computing space and leverage it to a much broader set of applications.

Andy Cowell: We're one of the few companies that have not only low-voltage, low-power, high-efficiency solutions, but we also have higher cell count voltage, higher power, high-efficiency solutions. And we also have advanced packaging techniques that many other companies don't have.

Necip Sayiner: Power management, both on the mobile side, as well as infrastructure side, will continue to be funded aggressively. We have been building and we can put more dollars behind the build, both with our controllers, digital and analog, our power modules, and our switching regulators, to bring a more comprehensive set of solutions to the end customers.
