World’s Most Flexible Video Multiplexer Combines Multiformat Video Filtering, Two Universal Sync Separators and Programmable Output Gain Control
Intersil’s ISL59450 Video MUX Handles Composite, S-Video and Component Video Signals and Offers Integrated Programmable Anti-Aliasing Filters for Superior Video Performance
MILPITAS, CA, August 27, 2008 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ Global
Select: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance
analog semiconductors, today announced the
ISL59450
Multiformat Video Multiplexer with Integrated Sync Separator, a device designed
for the variety of video signals and formats used today. The device’s unmatched
video format flexibility along with programmable anti-aliasing filters and
integrated sync separators, make this multiplexer the ideal choice for video
switching in nearly all display systems.
The
ISL59450 has 6 Composite, 4 S-Video and 4 Component video inputs enabling
simultaneously switching of many video signals in different formats.
Additionally, two of the Component input channels can be configured for RGB
signals with separate horizontal and vertical syncs. This allows for handling of
PC video signals often used in multimedia and home-theater applications.
The
ISL59450 features integrated programmable anti-aliasing filters which
provide the ability to program the corner frequencies to specifically address
the video standard being used. This further enables the customer to achieve the
best possible video performance.
Two universal sync separators extract the timing signals from input signals,
which will be needed further down the signal path to display and manipulate
images. This, along with two active output channels per input group, enables
functionality such as picture-in-picture (PIP).
The
ISL59450 also features programmable output gain control providing another
degree of flexibility as the end user can independently adjust the gain of each
output to match the termination network.
To support very high resolution signals, the
ISL59450
can be configured to bypass the filters and provide 275MHz of bandwidth.
Enhanced scalability is achieved through a high impedance state that allows
non-active parts to be isolated from active signals, enabling multiple devices
to be used in parallel to create larger switches.
All of this makes the
ISL59450
an ideal part to handle multiple video inputs into almost any type of video
system.
Pricing and Availability
The
ISL59450 is available now in a 128-lead MQFP package and is priced at $7.93
per unit in 1,000-unit quantities. More information on the

About Intersil’s Video Products
From high-performance video amplifiers to differential line equalizers,
Intersil's portfolio of video products can address any portion of the analog
signal chain. The number and variety of video products on the market continues
to grow. With the expansion of HDTV and high-resolution RGB (red, green, blue)
signals, the most common point-to-point connection for a video signal is analog.
Intersil’s video ICs provide many solutions for moving these signals around.
Whether it is transmitting RGB down CAT-5 or switching 32 security video feeds,
Intersil has a solution. Also, Intersil’s
ISL5944x family extends the available bandwidth of RGB multiplexers on the
market from 500 MHz up to 1GHz – the first time this barrier has been broken.
Intersil continues to deliver best-in-class video solutions for its customers,
addressing every piece of the signal chain. To learn more about Intersil’s broad
video portfolio, visit Intersil’s Video ICs page at
