| Advanced Thermal Monitoring Circuit |
If the advanced thermal monitoring circuit of the ISL6291
detects an internal temperature of 100ºC, it automatically
throttles back the charge current to eliminate the risk of
overheating. The gain for the current-foldback is 40mA/ºC
(or 0.4µA/ºC for the reference current IR) after the
internal temperature reaches 100ºC, which means the charge
current of a charger set at 1A is reduced to zero when the
internal temperature reaches 125ºC. This unique current-foldback
system stabilizes the internal temperature between 100ºC
and 125ºC under most operating conditions. |

Features |
2.0A maximum charge rates allows
fast charging of today’s larger capacity cells
which can exceed 2000mA. |
Thermal regulation eliminates need
to design for worst case thermals and reduces risk
of damage caused by using incompatible adapters. |
Increased integration reduces
external component count and simplifies design. |
4.3V ~ 13V max rating allows for
use of loosely regulated, low-cost wall adapters
and USB input power sources. |
Super low 33°C/W thermal resistance
accelerates charging without thermal buildup. |
