Power Stages

D2Audio® created Intelligent Power Stages (IPS) to optimize audio performance, operational quality and efficiency in consumer electronics. When integrated with the real-time PWM timing control of Intersil’s Digital Audio Engine™ (DAE) devices, the IPS becomes an integral element of a complete stand-alone digital amplifier system. Intelligent monitoring integrated within the IPS enables graceful protection and real-time response from temperature, overload, and short-circuit conditions.

Intelligent Power Stages are high performance Class-D drivers comprised of 4 independent outputs with integrated and intelligent control. The four configurable outputs operate as separate half bridge outputs, as full bridge outputs, or in mixed full and half bridge modes. With high efficiency and audio performance, the IPS-1 can drive 2 full bridge 8 ohm channels of over 25 watts each with less than 1% THD+N, or can drive 4 independent half bridge loudspeaker channels. Configurability also supports parallel full bridge operation supporting over 50 watts at less than 1%THD+N into 4 ohms, ideal for powered loudspeaker or powered subwoofer applications
