Xicor's New Highly-Integrated Triple Voltage CPU Supervisors Ideal for Monitoring and Control of Multiple Voltages in a System
-- Unique solution enhances reliability for advanced communications equipment
MILPITAS, Calif., September 28, 2000 - XICOR, Inc. today announced a family of advanced triple voltage CPU supervisory products that integrate power-on-reset, watchdog timer and three independent low voltage sense monitors on a single device. These two new products, the X40030 and X40430, are ideal for advanced communications applications, such as routers and LAN switches, that typically operate on multiple supply voltages. Combined with additional features including three separate reset outputs, a fault detection register and manual, nonvolatile reset, these devices will greatly improve overall system reliability and performance.
"Xicor continues to extend the functionality and feature set of our CPU supervisor family of field programmable analog and digital solutions," said Wayne Eng, director of product marketing. "The triple voltage CPU supervisors with the fault detection register provide all of the key system management functions that designers need to ensure reliable system operation. Building on Xicor's EEPROM technology, these CPU supervisor solutions offer the flexibility that reduces the overall component count and cost for the customer. The integrated functions of the X40030 and X40430 are fundamental for our customers to simplify complex embedded system designs," Eng concluded.
X40030 and X40430 technical features
In addition to monitoring three independent voltages, the X40030 and X40430 feature userprogrammable functions that provide system designers with the flexibility to tune device parameters to meet exact system requirements. Both products allow the user to select the low voltage reset trip points for the three independent low voltage monitors contained in the device, which are independently programmable from 1.7 to 4.75 volts. The devices also include user selectable watchdog timeout selection intervals ranging from 25 milliseconds to 1.4 seconds. Moreover, the watchdog timer function can be disabled to facilitate system software debugging. The 4k EEPROM memory is integrated in the X40430 and X40431, and includes support for Xicor's Block LockTM feature. All products communicate through the industry standard 400K Hz two-wire serial interface.
