Xicor® Introduces Programmable Triple Voltage Supervisor Family with Integrated 4K EEPROM
--Four New Products Enable Intelligent System Management Functions in Advanced Computing, Communication and Storage Systems
MILPITAS, Calif., July 23, 2002 - Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq: XICO), a leading supplier of programmable mixed-signal integrated circuits, today announced 4 new products, X40034, X40035, X40434 and X40435, expanding the family of advanced triple voltage supervisory products that integrate poweron- reset, watchdog timer and three independent low voltage sense monitors on a single device. These products are ideal for advanced computing and communication applications such as Routers, LAN Switches, Servers and Storage Area Networks (SAN) that typically operate on multiple supply voltages, including a processor core voltage as low as 1V.
"Xicor now has the most comprehensive multi-voltage supervisor offering in the market," Tony Ochoa, marketing manager of Power and System Management Products. "We offer families of single, dual and triple low voltage supervisors with and without embedded memory that provide designers complete flexibility to implement system management functions in reduced board space and at a lower cost. The integrated functions are fundamental to simplifying customers' complex multi-voltage embedded system designs."
X40034, X40035, X40434 and X40435 Triple Supervisors: Technical Features:
The Triple Supervisors feature 1% accurate voltage monitors, three separate reset outputs, a fault detection register, and manual reset that enables improved overall system reliability and performance.
They provide the user with the flexibility to select the low voltage reset trip points for the independent low voltage monitors contained in each device, which are independently programmable from 0.9 to 4.75 volts. With threshold voltages as low as 0.9V, these devices can monitor the latest high performance processor core voltages, which can be as low as 1V. A key-differentiating feature of the triple supervisor is its ability to independently monitor two separate low voltages even if the supply voltage Vcc is off. Since the voltage monitors are independent, the device offers a fault detection register that reports the failure of either voltage or the occurrence of a watchdog time-out or manual reset. This fault monitoring can be very important for tracking system reliability and establishing more reliable and flexible reset recovery mechanisms.
In addition to monitoring three voltages using the triple supervisors, these devices feature userprogrammable functions that provide system designers with the flexibility to tune device parameters to meet the exact system requirements. The devices include user selectable Power On Reset times of 50ms, 200ms, 400ms or 800ms. This provides flexibility such that systems that must load firmware prior to execution of software can use longer reset times and those that require quick start for reduced power consumption can select short reset times. All products feature watchdog time-out selection intervals of 25ms, 200ms and 1.4 seconds. Moreover, the watchdog timer function can be disabled to facilitate system software debugging.
The 4k EEPROM memory is integrated in the X40434 and X40435, and includes support for Xicor's Block Lock feature. All products communicate through the industry standard 400KHz two-wire serial interface. The triple supervisors are available in 14-pin SOIC or 14-pin TSSOP.
