Xicor® Introduces Integrated System Management Solution with Battery Backup & 256Kbit EEPROM
-- Single Chip Supervisory Solution Replaces Discrete Components to Reduce Cost and Board Space
MILPITAS, California October 6, 2003 Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq: XICO), a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, today introduced the X45620, a new integrated system management solution that incorporates 256Kbits of EEPROM memory. The device integrates several voltage monitors, resets and voltage references along with a watchdog timer, Vcc/battery supply output buffer, power supply indicator, power-on reset, manual reset, general purpose EEPROM with memory block protection and a 2-wire serial interface to provide a complete single-chip solution for system management.
The device targets various applications in the communications, consumer and industrial markets including Routers, Gigabit Ethernet, Cellular Base Stations, Mass Storage Devices, Industrial or Process applications and Data Acquisition Systems.
The X45620 provides system designers with a highly integrated system management solution to support microcontroller operations, power sequencing and main power to battery power switching while providing battery backup support, stated Tony Ochoa, marketing manager of Standard Linear Products. In addition, it provides extra non-volatile memory to store critical manufacturing information. The X45620 is an ideal system management companion for embedded control applications and replaces anywhere from 10 to 20 discrete components thereby reducing cost and board space.
Summary of Features
- Voltage monitors for both battery and main line VCC: Independent voltage monitors, integrated voltage references and comparators are combined to provide complete monitor circuits that are set to different voltage trip points between 1.8V to 5V. Therefore, no external resistors are required.
- Separate reset pin for each monitor: This feature makes the device ideal for power sequencing applications or supply transitions between batteries and main line supplies. An additional monitor provides a low-line power monitor with RESET capability down to 1-volt Vcc.
- Integrated Battery/Vcc switch and separate battery-on pin indicator: An internal Vcc/Vbatt switch and voltage supply output buffer is also provided with 50mA consumption.
- System Management Functions: Integrated Power On Reset, Master Reset, and Selectable Watchdog Timer (150ms to 800ms and OFF) with separate watchdog output pin indicator are integrated and can be programmed via the 2-wire bus.
- 256Kbit of EEPROM for general-purpose use to store timing information, manufacturing information, and other calibration data: Memory Block Write Protection is included to prevent inadvertent writes. Xicor also offers 4kbit versions (X5043 and X5045).
