Xicor® Introduces Integrated Power Sequencing Products X80140, X80130, X80120 Series
--Quad, Triple, and Dual Power Supply Sequencing and Voltage Supervisor Controllers Provide Selectable Delay for Distributed Power Applications
MILPITAS, California January 21, 2003 Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq: XICO), a leading supplier of programmable mixed-signal integrated circuits, today introduced the X80140-series, X80130-series and X80120-series time-based power sequencers. These devices can sequence and monitor 5 independent DC-to-DC converters via an SMBus interface. Through this interface, sequence delays as well as other power management functions can be programmed into on-chip EEPROM. This allows sequencing and monitoring features to be customized at the board level for optimal power management performance.
Power supply sequencing provides systematic ON/OFF control of DC-to-DC converters on line cards and other devices. Xicor's power sequencing products yield flexible designs that support both parallel and relay timing configurations. Multiple devices can be cascaded to support more complicated time-based sequencing designs. In addition, Xicor's new sequencing products provide maximum compatibility with existing boards with previous hot-swap solutions.
The new family of products introduced today complements Xicor's existing family of power management products that includes hot-swap products, sequencing products, and combination products that integrate both functions on a single chip. A unique customer benefit is the flexibility of feature selection through either board hardware components or by SMBus software.
Xicor's power sequencing devices can be used in various applications for communications, consumer, and industrial markets. End applications include routers, gigabit ethernet, cellular base stations, mass-storage devices, industrial or process controllers, ATE or data acquisition equipment and multi-processor servers.
Summary of Features:
- Quad (X80140-series), Triple (X80130-series), or Dual (X80120 series)
Voltage Monitors:
Independent voltage monitors, integrated voltage references and comparators can be programmed
to different voltage trip points between 0.9V to 5V. Each device has a unique set of voltage trip
points that initiate time delays.
- Time-base Sequencers: Choice of two to four time delay circuits with SMBus
selectable time
delay between 100 milliseconds to 5 seconds. Timeout pin indicators are provided as well as onchip
oscillator and dividers. - System Management Functions : Integrated Power On Reset with
selectable delay, manual reset
and fault detection register provide additional control and monitoring of each timer and voltage
supervisor via the SMBus. - 2Kbit of customer accessible EEPROM for storing timing information,
manufacturing information
and other calibration data.
Production samples are available in 20-lead QFN packaging with 1k unit prices starting at $3.30 for the Dual Version (X80120-series), $3.60 for the Triple Versions (X80130-series) and $4.10 for the Quad Versions (X80140-series) USD.
