Xicor® Introduces Hotswap Controller with Advanced Fault Protection and Voltage Regulator
--Company Expands Integrated Power Management Solutions X80070, X80071, X80072, X80073
MILPITAS, California December 10, 2002 Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq: XICO), a leading supplier of programmable mixed-signal integrated circuits, today introduced the X80070, X80071, X80072, and X80073, a new generation of negative supply hotswap controllers. The devices' hotswap features allow for insertion and extraction of Line Cards, Network Interface Cards and other peripherals while 48V power is present on the backplane.
These devices integrate several new hotswap functions in order to meet the demands of 30V to 110V live power backplanes. Selectable gate current provides for design flexibility to solve for variations of load, current, transients, and power MOSFET selection. Hardshort detection with retry, overcurrent safety limit during insertion, and built-in noise filter allow for additional protection during live insertion and system start up. The integrated overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent protection circuits can be used as a complete electronic circuit breaker. Additional functions include both power-ready and hardshort detection indicators to report status of the power distribution system. Summary of Features:
