Xicor Introduces Family of Integrated Dual Voltage CPU Supervisors
MILPITAS, Calif., May 30, 2000 - XICOR, Inc today announced five new user programmable dual voltage CPU supervisors, the X55020, X55040, X55060, X55620, and X55621. This family of products integrates a system battery switch, power-on-reset, watchdog timer, and two low voltage sense circuits along with on-chip EEPROM memory on a single device which saves board space and component count. For additional functionality and system design flexibility, the X55621 offers a separate external watchdog output and a manual reset option. All products communicate through the industry standard SPI interface operating at 5 MHz.
All products feature an integrated system battery switch that will automatically switch over from the primary power supply to the backup supply when the device detects a voltage failure on the primary power supply. This feature is ideal for portable products such as medical equipment, handheld radios, utility meters and communications equipment.
Also featured in this family of products are user-programmable functions providing system designers with maximum flexibility to tune device parameters in order to meet exact system requirements. This enables the user to program the low voltage reset trip points for the two independent low voltage monitors over a range from 2.55 to 5.5 volts. They also include user selectable watchdog timeout selection intervals ranging from 150 milliseconds to 800 milliseconds. Additionally, the watchdog timer function can be disabled to facilitate system software debugging.
