Xicor Expands User Programmable CPU Supervisor Family
MILPITAS, Calif., June 5, 2000 - XICOR, Inc., today announced the X5563, a userprogrammable CPU supervisor that integrates power-on-reset, watchdog timer, and low voltage sense functions with 256K of EEPROM on a single device. By enabling the designer to program these key parameters, the X5563 provides maximum flexibility to tune the device parameters to meet exact system requirements. If the system design parameters change, the designer can simply reprogram the part without removing them from the system to meet the new system requirements.
The X5563 communicates through a high-speed SPI interface and allows the user to program low voltage reset trip points from 2.55 to 5.5 volts. The watchdog timer can be programmed by the user to timeout intervals ranging from 150 to 800 milliseconds. Additionally, the watchdog timer can be disabled to facilitate system software debugging. The X5563 includes support for Xicor's unique Block Lock function. This function allows the designer to "lock" selected memory blocks within the 256K of EEPROM via special software register commands, preventing unauthorized access to these blocks.
