Xicor Announces Real Time Clock Products
-- Innovative field programmability added in new products. Clocks operate down to 1.8v and are Y2K compliant
MILPITAS, Calif., April 1, 1999 - XICOR, Inc., today announced the X1203 and X1243, two real time clock products that include innovative programmable event alarms and integrated watchdog timer functions. These products are fully Y2K compliant and communicate through the industry standard IIC interface.
The X1203 features a fully programmable real time clock with two independent interrupt-driven alarm functions, an integrated watchdog timer, power-on-reset, and low voltage sense reset. The watchdog timer supports several user-selectable timeout intervals, ranging from 250 milliseconds to 1.75 seconds. The real time clock operates down to 1.8v.
The X1243 offers the same features as the X1203, and adds an on-chip 16Kbit full-featured EEPROM memory. In both the X1203 and X1243, alarms can be set with resolutions of 1 second, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week or 1 month. Alarms can also be programmed for specific days of the week. Both devices include a battery switchover function that supports automatic switching from the main power supply to a battery backup in the event of power failure.
"Real time clock functions are standard building blocks required in laptop computers, cellular telephones and other hand-held products," said Wayne Eng, director of digital products marketing. "The field programmable alarms and time intervals of the X1203 and X1243, coupled with timekeeping down to 1.8v, are ideally suited to hand-held applications.
"Real time clock functions allow designers to build an extra level of security into their systems via automatic date and time stamping," continued Eng, "and the Y2K compliance of these products make them ideal for new system designs."
