Samsung Selects Intersil’s Endura Power Management ICs for Next-Generation Pentium® 4 Processor Notebooks

IRVINE, CA, January 29, 2002 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in semiconductors, consumer electronics and digital convergence technology, has selected Intersil’s Endura ICs to power Samsung’s next generation notebooks which are based on the Intel Mobile Pentium® 4 Processor. Endura ICs manage power for the CPU while offering improved power efficiency, reliability, space and cost savings.

Intersil’s Endura ISL6215 + ISL6205 Mobile Pentium 4 Processor Power Solution
Intersil’s power solution for the Intel Mobile Pentium 4 Processor is comprised of the new mobile-optimized ISL6215 multiphase PWM IC controlling a designer’s choice of two or three ISL6205 MOSFET drivers for modular power partitioning. This architecture simplifies component placement, regulates channel current and offers efficient heat distribution. The ISL6205 MOSFET driver ICs work with the ISL6215 controller to provide enhanced over-voltage, under-voltage and over-current protection. This total solution offers improved efficiency, higher reliability, lower circuit complexity and lower overall cost.
