Powerful new capability lets customers optimize device behavior to meet system requirements
MILPITAS, Calif., January 18, 1999 - XICOR, Inc. (NASDAQ: XICO) today an-nounced the X5001 CPU supervisor, adding field programmability to popular CPU supervisory functions in a highly integrated single chip solution. This product will dramatically reduce "time to market" and greatly simplify system design challenges designers face today.
The X5001 combines a Watch Dog Timer (WDT), power-on reset (POR) circuit, and low voltage sense (LVS) reset circuit in a single integrated cost effective solution. The part is equipped with a high speed SPI interface.
The WDT can be programmed by the user to timeout intervals ranging from 200 milliseconds to 1.4 seconds. Additionally, the WDT can be disabled to facilitate system software debugging. The low voltage reset trip points can be programmed from 1.7 to 5.0 volts, with an accuracy of + 25 millivolts. Low voltage reset thresholds can be reprogrammed by the designer should system requirements change.
"These functions are used by all embedded system designers," said Wayne Eng, director of digital products marketing. "Our solution offers increased functionality and flexibility. By enabling the designer to program key parameters such as WDT reset interval and LVS trip points, we provide the maximum flexibility to tune the device parameters to meet exact system requirements. If the system design parameters change, the designer can simply reprogram the part without removing them from the system to meet the new system requirements.
"This product continues our thrust into field programmable analog and digital solutions," he continued. "The X5001 provides all the key system management functions designers need to insure reliable system operation in a single cost effective solution."
