Legend Selects Intersil's WLAN Chip Set for the New Kaitian 6800 Commercial Computer

MILPITAS, CA, April 14xx, 2003 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that Legend Group Limited (Legend) (HKSE stock code: 992; ADR stock quote: LGHLY), Chinas largest IT corporation, has integrated Intersil PRISM® mini-PCI Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) solution into their new Kaitian 6800 commercial computer. Legend recently received Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval for their Low Profile PCI card, from the State Radio Monitoring Center SRMC, China. This is equivalent to FCC radio certification in the United States.
Legends Kaitian 6800 is a tiny commercial PC that supports CPUs at 3 GHz or above. The Kaitian 6800 featues include wireless connection to the Internet, telephone synchronization, personalized interface, smart cards and VPN security. Its strong functionality, high integration, together with a vertical and horizontal chassis for selection, easy-to-adjust LCD monitor as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse help enhance freedom of operation.
There is an increasing demand for wireless LAN solutions in China and Intersil is very excited that Legend is bringing PRISM-based products to this rapidly growing market, said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager for Intersils Wireless Networking Product Group. The PRISM solution features the worlds first single-chip Baseband Processor (BBP) and Medium Access Controller (MAC) that integrates digital functions normally done by two ICs. PRISM chip sets are the most highly integrated WLAN silicon solutions on the market.
