IRVINE, CA, September 29, 2000 — Intersil (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leader in power management solutions for desktop PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced the latest addition to its growing family of power semiconductors. The 200-volt (V) family of UltraFET™ metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) is designed for use in Internet servers, network appliances, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), DC/DC converters and general-purpose load control applications. The devices are optimized to improve overall circuit efficiency.

"Intersil’s 200V UltraFET MOSFETs are optimized for a wide range of power applications," said Eric Hertz, product line manager at Intersil. "Power requirements play an increasingly crucial role in next generation networking applications. Intersil’s industrial UltraFET MOSFET portfolio is broad enough to be deployed in numerous designs while versatile enough to be optimized for specific applications."

The latest addition to the UltraFET family efficiently controls power and significantly reduces power losses across a range of voltages, considerably improving overall system reliability.

Intersil’s 200V UltraFET MOSFETs are designed to maximize the trade-off between Rds(on), Gate Charge (Qg), and body diode characteristics to optimize power efficiency in topologies requiring breakdown voltages up to 200V. Intersil’s HUF75945G3 offers exceptionally low max and typical Rds(on), which is a measure of a MOSFET’s opposition to current flow when it is turned on.

The 200V UltraFET family features additional efficiency enhancements through a superior body diode that exhibits low Reverse Recovery Charge (Qrr) and Reverse Recovery Time (Trr). The new 200V devices also feature advanced switching speeds, enabling engineers to improve overall power efficiency and thermal rating. Because the device utilizes Intersil’s UltraFET technology, only a minimal amount of the surface area of the printed circuit board is used.

The 200V devices join the growing family of power efficient UltraFET MOSFETs offered by Intersil. Currently, the entire UltraFET family includes 20V, 30V, 55V, 60V, 80V, 100V, 150V and now 200V devices.

About UltraFET
Intersil’s advanced UltraFET process technology achieves the lowest possible on-resistance per silicon area, lower gate charge, improved dynamic switching characteristics, and other capabilities resulting in unparalleled device performance. UltraFET devices withstand high peak currents and energy in the avalanche mode, essential when switching inductive loads. The process also enables devices between 20V and 200V to achieve the highest levels of performance on the market today.

Intersil UltraFET devices are fully compliant with latest AEC Q101 specification, including the recently added preconditioning with forced moisture penetration. Intersil’s Power Discrete facilities are also QS9000 certified.

Packaging, Pricing and Availability
The 200V UltraFET MOSFET family is currently sampling and is available in a variety of packages. These 200V devices are offered with short lead times, pricing in 1,000 piece quantities follows.
