Intersil's Taiwan Wireless Application Center Provides WHQL and 802.11 Pre-test Services for Intersil's Asia Customers

-- New center helps accelerate product development and launch for Intersil’s PRISM® customers

MILPITAS, CA, February 12, 2003 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, announced today the opening of its new Asia Wireless Application Center, located in Taipei, Taiwan. Intersil engineers are now performing pre-testing services and providing general engineering support to assist Intersil’s WLAN customers prepare for Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) and 802.11certification.

“Our WHQL and 802.11 pre-test capability in Taipei will significantly help our Asia-based companies design their new 802.11 wireless products to meet WHQL and 802.11 certification requirements,” said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager for Intersil’s Wireless Products Group. “This is another example of Intersil’s commitment to provide value added services for our customers.”

The following objectives have been established for Intersil’s Asia Wireless Applications Center.

• Accelerate customer’s time-to-market for PRISM-based WLAN products.
• Provide timely support and shorten PRISM-based product development cycles.
• Demonstrate Intersil’s comprehensive PRISM WLAN solutions.
• Reduce communications obstacles and delays by providing efficient local support.
• Provide an identical pre-testing environment as Intersil’s US facilities.

Along with WHQL and 802.11 pre-testing, Intersil’s Asia wireless applications lab will also provide radio performance testing, printed circuit board performance and sensitivity analysis, manufacturing test software demos (ATE) and in-depth debugging to assist customers with the development and launch of PRISM-based wireless products.
