Intersil's PRISM WLAN Technology Selected by ViewSonic for the airpanel Wireless Smart Displays

MILPITAS, CA, February 5, 2003 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that ViewSonic Corp., a worldwide Visual Technologies leader, has selected Intersils PRISM Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) technology to provide wireless connectivity for their new ViewSonic airpanel wireless Smart Display systems. Consumers will have significant access to ViewSonics PRISM-based products through major participating retailers including Comp USA, Amazon.com, Buy.com, Frys Electronics and RCS.
"ViewSonics new airpanel wireless Smart Display systems are further evidence of the growing acceptance of wireless connectivity for the home and promises to liberate consumers from a cumbersome wired world, said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager of Intersils Wireless Networking Product group. Original equipment manufacturers are producing a wide-range of stimulating and exciting PRISM-based products that expand PC-based applications in the rapidly growing home wireless market.
The 10-inch airpanel V110 and the 15-inch airpanel V150 wireless touch screen monitors are intended for remote mobile use throughout the home. When using the available docking station, the V150 can also be employed as a primary desktop monitor. ViewSonic provides everything the consumer needs to get the Smart Displays up and running right out of the box, including integrated wireless support, a USB wireless adapter solution and an upgrade to the Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system.
