IRVINE, CA, September 26, 2001 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced the new Endura ISL6115 and ISL6116 hot plug/swap power controllers designed to provide economical and reliable power control for power distribution applications including high-end servers and storage systems. Intersil leads the industry with the most cost effective hot plug/hot swap controller and DC-DC converter solutions.
"Mission critical applications such as servers and storage systems require careful power control and hot plug capability to avoid costly down time and loss of use," said Rick Furtney, vice president and general manager of Intersils Analog Business Unit. "The ISL6115 and ISL6116 single rail power distribution controllers have the full complement of features needed for critical applications, including over-current fault isolation, adjustable turn-on ramp, and under-voltage monitoring and notification."
The ISL6115
The ISL6115 is a +12 V high-side single rail controller intended for hot plug and hot swap applications. More than just a programmable circuit breaker, the ISL6115s rich feature set includes: under-voltage monitoring and "power good" notification, programmable over-current detection and fault isolation, programmable current regulation, programmable current limit time to latch off, rail-to-rail common-mode input voltage range, internal charge pump which allows the use of less-costly N-channel MOSFETs, adjustable turn on ramp, and fast sub-microsecond response to a dead short.
The ISL6116
The ISL6116 is a +5 V low-side single rail controller intended for hot plug and hot swap applications. It has all of the features of the ISL6115 and can be configured for load voltages greater than +15 V or negative voltages such as the 48 V used in the telecom industry.
Both products offer customers a high degree of integration that results in savings in board space and balance of materials costs. In addition, customers benefit from design and application flexibility, which yields lower manufacturing costs. Complete reference designs and evaluation boards are available.
Price and Availability
The ISL6115 and ISL6116 are available now. Pricing, based on one thousand piece quantities, is as follows:
| Part Number | Package | Price |
