Intersil's New Quad MightyMUX Analog Switch Brings Best-in-Class Performance in Space-Saving Near-Chip-Scale Packaging

MILPITAS, CA, May 7, 2003 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced a new addition to their rapidly growing MightyMUX™ high-performance analog switch line – the ISL43240. This high-performance IC contains four single-pole double-throw (SPDT) analog switches that provide a best-in-class R(ON) of less than 20 Ohms, at +/-5 V and 25 degrees Centigrade, and a best-in-class R(ON) flatness of less than 4 Ohms guaranteed across input voltage and industrial temperature. Targeted applications include high-precision equipment used for medical, communications, and testing.

The ISL43240 has the flexibility to operate from a +2 V to +12 V single supply or from a +/-2 V to +/-6 V dual supply. The tiny, near-chip-scale, 20-pad 4 X 4 mm Quad Flat No-lead (QFN) package greatly conserves board space. A 20-lead SSOP package option is also available. A very low off-leakage current of less than 100 pA lengthens hold times in sample-and-hold-circuits and fast switching speeds — t(on) = 46 ns, t(off) = 25 ns with dual 5-V supply — reduce propagation delays in timing sensitive applications. These switches offer minimal charge injection of less than 5 pC to maximize signal integrity. All ICs are fully specified at +/-5 V, 12 V, 5 V and 3.3 V to save designers characterization time and increase their confidence in the device’s performance. Intersil offers more guaranteed specifications for the ISL43240 than any competing product.
