Intersil's New MightyMUX Quad SPST Switch ICs Offer Best-In-Class R(ON) and R(ON) Flatness in Space-Saving Near-Chip-Scale Packaging
MILPITAS, CA, May 21, 2003 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced three new additions to their rapidly growing MightyMUX high-performance low-voltage analog switch line the ISL43143, ISL43144 and ISL43145. These high-performance ICs each contain four single-pole single-throw (SPST) analog switches that boast of best-in-class R(ON) and R(ON) flatness for switches operating below 15 V. The near-chip-scale 4 X 4 mm Quad Flat No-lead (QFN) package offers significant savings in board space. Targeted applications include high-precision equipment used for medical, communications, and testing.
The ISL43143, ISL43144 and ISL43145 have the flexibility to operate from a +2 V to +12 V single supply or from a +/-2 V to +/-6 V dual supply. R(ON) is less than 25 Ohms, at +/-5 V and 25 deg. C, and R(ON) flatness is less than 5 Ohms guaranteed across input voltage and industrial temperature. The near-chip-scale 16-pad 4 X 4 mm QFN package greatly conserves board space, occupying 50% less real estate than the TSSOP. A 16-lead TSSOP package option is also available.
The ISL43143 includes four normally closed (NC) switches. The ISL43144 has four normally open (NO) switches. The ISL43145 provides flexibility with two NO and two NC switches that can be configured as dual SPDT switches or a dual 2:1 multiplexer.
A very low off-state leakage current of less than 2.5 nA at +85 deg. C lengthens hold times in sample-and-hold-circuits and fast switching speeds [t(on) = 52 ns, t(off) = 40 ns with dual 5-V supply] reduce propagation delays in timing sensitive applications. These switches offer minimal charge injection of less than 5 pC to maximize signal integrity. All ICs are fully specified at +/-5 V, 12 V, 5 V and 3.3 V to save designers characterization time and increase their confidence in the devices performance. Intersil offers more guaranteed specifications for these ICs than any competing products.
