Intersil's New Low-Voltage Analog Switches Offer High-Performance in Small Packages
-- Improved switches provide better performance with detailed low-voltage characterization
IRVINE, CA, April 25, 2002 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of silicon technology for wireless access and communications analog markets, today announced two new additions to their high-performance analog switch line the ISL84514 and the ISL84515. Both switches are single-pole single-throw (SPST) configured. The ISL84514 has normally-open (NO) contacts while the ISL84515 has normally-closed (NC). Thorough characterization documentation aids design-in and qualification. These new low-voltage, low-power switches reinforce Intersils commitment to supplying portable markets with enabling solutions.
Targeted applications include portable battery-powered equipment in which space and power consumption are concerns. Extremely low power consumption (<5 µW) extends battery life, low leakage currents (1 nA max) increases hold times in sample-and-hold-circuits, and fast switching speeds (tON = 150 ns max, tOFF = 100 ns max) reduce propagation delay in timing sensitive applications. The parts offer minimal charge injection (10 pC max) to maximize signal integrity, and they come in some of the smallest packages alleviating board space limitations. This combination of features makes Intersils newest switches an ideal solution for low-power space-constrained applications.
Intersil provides data sheets with enhanced device characterization data for these new switches, which include complete specification tables at +3.3 V, +5 V and +12 V and specifications measured over the full temperature range. Engineers who need a full range of performance data for new product designs require this comprehensive documentation.
Available in both the 8-lead SOIC and 5-lead SOT-23 packages, the ISL84514 and ISL84515 are pin compatible with the Maxim MAX4514 and MAX4515 devices. By maintaining a second supplier in high-volume applications, customers reduce their risk of part shortages when industry demand strains supplier capacity.
