IRVINE, CA, September 11, 2000 Intersil (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced the formation of a new product family to fully address the rapidly-growing power management market. Intersil also unveiled today a new brand identity to raise awareness of the companys power management product portfolio among its global customer base. The power management portfolio will now be marketed under the "Endura" brand name.
"The Endura brand embodies Intersils value proposition," said Rick Furtney, vice president and general manager of Intersils Power Management business. "Intersils customers recognize the qualities of our power management products for desktop PCs, laptop PCs and state-of-the-art portable information appliances. Endura allows the company to combine our market reputation and the product characteristics of 24x7 reliability and availability under a single, powerful brand name and logo."
The Intersil Endura product family consists of leading power management solutions for desktop PCs, workstations, RAID systems and high-availability servers. The new product family will continue to develop high efficiency solutions that will be used in portable PCs and mobile information appliances, as well as home gateway products. Endura devices will address the increasing demands for power, connectivity and availability of higher performing information appliances, supporting current and next generation microprocessors, information appliances and the burgeoning Internet infrastructure.
"Intersil currently owns a significant portion of the global desktop and hot-swap computer power management markets," said Furtney. "Endura power management products are currently designed into more than half of all AMD Athlon microprocessor-based computer systems, and it is estimated that Endura products are found in nearly one-third of the servers, redundant array of independent disks (RAID) systems, and workstations manufactured since 1997. This high usage rate is evidence of the industrys confidence in Intersils power management products that support the growing demand for ease of connectivity and the increasingly powerful wired and wireless information appliances in the enterprise and in the home."
Intersils Endura branding campaign features a new, progressive vision for the product line, a new logo, redesigned collateral materials and a more coordinated communications approach to promoting Endura products. The new logo features the Endura name in stylized black letters with a modern typestyle and red, sweeping half circles around the Endura name. The company also is building on that color scheme and modern design for its new marketing communications materials. A downloadable version of the logo is available on Intersils Web site at http://www.intersil.com/pressroom/photoroom.asp.
The branding campaign will leverage the product familys ongoing communications program, and includes advertisements in trade publications, public relations efforts and direct contact with the companys customers, prospects and other key stakeholders.
