PALM BAY, FL, May 12, 2000 — Intersil Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading developer of communications products for wireless and wired Wide Area Networks (WANs), today introduced the newest addition to its CommLink family of signal processing and high-speed converter solutions. As part of Intersil's growing CommLink family, the HSP45314 Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) delivers the fine tuning resolution, accurate digital control and high speed performance that is required by today's evolving wireless communications standards.

The HSP45314 DDS is specifically designed for use in wireless communications equipment, such as base stations that link cellular telephones to the wired telephone network, satellite receivers, and cellular test equipment. The device is compatible with global standards, including AMPS, GSM and 3G. DDS is recognized as a superior technology for generating frequency-agile, highly accurate and low-distortion output waveforms that are critical in generating clear wireless signals.

"The new HSP45314 DDS is a critical component in the up/down frequency conversion process that transforms RF into voice and data information in today's communications receivers and transmitters," said Davin Yuknis, marketing manager of Signal Products at Intersil. "With its accuracy and speed, it is ideally suited for point-to-point microwave systems, wireless local loop, fixed wireless, satellite terminals, communications instrumentation, and last mile wireless applications."

The HSP45314 CommLink DDS presents an attractive alternative to analog Voltage-Controlled-Oscillators (VCO) for agile frequency synthesis applications. A major advantage of a DDS system is that its output frequency and phase can be precisely and rapidly manipulated under digital process control.

Specifications
Integrating a 48-bit programmable carrier numerically controlled oscillator (NCO), high-speed (125 megasamples-per-second) 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and comparator circuit, Intersil's HSP45314 forms a complete, digitally controlled frequency synthesizer or clock generator. The device supports a wide variety of applications such as clock generator, digital tuner and local oscillator.

About CommLink
CommLink is a complete portfolio of digital radio and data conversion integrated circuits (ICs) that are optimized for high-speed wireless communications applications. The CommLink family is specifically designed to accommodate existing and future cellular protocols and to process the telecommunications signals that provide multiple channels of data over a single communications medium, such as wireless Internet access. End markets include broadband wireless, cellular infrastructure, satellite communication and communications test equipment.

Pricing and Availability
The HSP45314 is currently sampling, and production is scheduled for May 22, 2000. The HSP45314 is priced from $14.79 in 100 piece quantities. For more information on this device and the entire family of CommLink products, visit Intersil's Web site at www.intersil.com/commlink/index.asp.
