Intersil to Relocate Corporate Headquarters from Irvine to Milpitas, California

-- Move will consolidate Intersil's two west coast corporate and administrative facilities

IRVINE, CA, October 2, 2002 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that it will relocate its corporate headquarters from Irvine to Milpitas, California effective December 1, 2002. Intersil’s Southern California design and marketing functions will remain at their current location in Irvine.

“The consolidation of west coast offices is the result of Intersil’s acquisition of Milpitas-based Elantec Semiconductor, Inc., in May 2002 and our decision to combine administrative and corporate functions into one facility,” said Rich Beyer, Intersil’s president and CEO. “We believe that it is more efficient to consolidate corporate and administrative functions into our larger Milpitas operation while maintaining local marketing and design functions in Irvine.”

Intersil’s Milpitas facility has approximately 225 employees, while its Irvine operation is currently comprised of 30 employees. The consolidation will result in a small reduction in force for corporate and administrative employees working at Intersil’s Irvine location. “Our Irvine office has helped contribute to our success, and we believe that it will continue to make a positive impact on Intersil’s future as a marketing and design center,” added Beyer.
