Intersil to Demonstrate PRISM-based Wireless Networking at NetWorld+Interop 2000
PRISM technology utilized in products from leading companies
PALM BAY, FL, May 5, 2000 Intersil Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), the world’s leading provider of silicon technology for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), today announced that wireless networking systems based on its award-winning PRISM® WLAN Chip Set will be demonstrated next week at the Networld+Interop Conference in Las Vegas, on May 8-12, 2000.
PALM BAY, FL, May 5, 2000 Intersil Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), the worlds leading provider of silicon technology for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), today announced that wireless networking systems based on its award-winning PRISM® WLAN Chip Set will be demonstrated next week at the Networld+Interop Conference in Las Vegas, on May 8-12, 2000.
At its booth (#7034), Intersil will showcase products from leading WLAN vendors that illustrate the benefits of wireless networking everywhere we live and work. Throughout the booth, customer products from Compaq, Nokia, Siemens, Zoom, SpectraLink, Samsung, Sony, Casio, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and others will be displayed.
"The wireless LAN industry has made tremendous technological advances in recent years and today offers a multitude of low-cost, high performance products that can deliver wireless connectivity to virtually everyone from business people to students to families at home," said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager of PRISM Wireless Products at Intersil. "The increased focus on wireless networking at Networld+Interop each year affirms that this market is growing tremendously and our demonstration illustrates many of the innovative products that are spurring this new wireless revolution."
Visitors to Intersils PRISM booth will see live demonstrations of customer products performing Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP), wireless transmission of DVD movies, interactive games, wireless Internet browsing and small wireless appliances, including wireless digital camcorders, palmtops, laptops and Webpads. All products utilize Intersils 802.11- and 802.11b-compliant direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technology.
Intersil will also participate in the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA) Pavilion (#6905). WECA, comprised of more than 30 WLAN industry leaders, certifies interoperability of Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b High Rate) products and promotes Wi-Fi as the global wireless LAN standard across all market segments. With cross-vendor interoperability assured, WLANs will be able to fulfill the promise of high-speed mobile computing. Since introducing the PRISM WLAN chip set in 1996, over fifty companies have incorporated PRISM chips in more than 100 product designs.
