Intersil Powers ASUSTeK’s New Pentium® Processor Motherboards

IRVINE, CA, December 4, 2001 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced that ASUSTeK Computer Inc., (TSE:2357), the world’s leader in PC motherboard revenue, has selected Intersil as the primary provider of power solutions for their new ASUS® motherboards that use Pentium® III and Pentium® 4 processors. Intersil’s Endura™ power products and solutions include highly efficient multiphase pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers, single and dual-channel synchronous-rectified buck MOSFET drivers and ancillary regulators.

ASUSTeK’s New Pentium Processor Motherboards
ASUSTeK’s TUSL2-C is their latest Intel® 815EP chip set motherboard designed for Intel FCPGA/FCPGA2 Pentium III processors and Celeron® processors. This board features include up to 133 MHz front side bus (FSB) support, three DIMM sockets for up to 512 MB PC100/133 SDRAM memory, AGP 4X graphics slot, two UltraDMA/100 IDE channels for up to four devices, six PCI card slots, one Communications and Network Riser (CNR) slot for 10/100 MB LAN networking, four USB ports and an optional six-channel audio chip for 5.1 speaker configurations.

The P4B is ASUSTeK’s newest Intel 845 chip set motherboard for Intel Pentium 4, 2 GHz-plus, processors and Socket 478. This motherboard is equipped with: 400 MHz FSB, three DIMM sockets for up to 3 GB of PC 100/133 SDRAM, one AGP 4X (1.5V) graphics slot, one CNR slot, six PCI slots, one USB header and many other functions and options.

Intersil’s Power Solutions for ASUStek’s Motherboards Power solutions for ASUSTeK’s motherboards include selections from Intersil’s Endura HIP6300 series multiphase controllers combined with Endura HIP6600 series MOSFET drivers for the Pentium 4 processor supply. Endura four-in-one dc/dc regulators such as the ISL6523 and ISL6524 are optimized for CPU core power regulation on ASUSTeK’s Pentium III and Celeron processor motherboards. Power control for chip sets, memory, slots and ports is provided using various members of the Endura HIP6000 and HIP6500 series controllers and regulators. All Endura power products have been optimized for maximum efficiency, space savings and high reliability. Pentium 4 processor core supply designs can be easily transferred to new board designs saving costs and time to market.
