Intersil Introduces World's Fastest Fixed-Gain Amplifier
-- New Elantec® EL5108 op amp provides “gain of 2” bandwidth of 450MHz with onboard gain setting resistors
MILPITAS, CA, October 7, 2003 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog solutions, today introduced two new fixed-gain amplifiers capable of operating at gains of +1, -1 and +2. The two new parts are the latest additions to Intersils rapidly expanding high-speed operational amplifier portfolio.
The Elantec® EL510X family includes the EL5106, a 350 Megahertz (MHz) bandwidth, 4000 volts per microsecond (V/us) slew rate device; and the EL5108 a 450 MHz bandwidth, 6000 V/us slew rate amplifier. The EL5108 is the worlds fastest fixed-gain amplifier. Integrated gain-setting resistors simplify the system design process for these highly popular gain settings. The EL5106 operates off only 1.5 mA supply current and the EL5108 off only 3.5 mA, making these devices extremely power efficient.
These two new fixed-gain amps make system design extremely easy for the most popular gain settings, said Sameer Vuyyuru, Intersils director of marketing for video and op amps. Our new EL510X family of single current feedback amplifiers is a perfect fit for driving video loads, buffering and data acquisition applications. Gain accuracy of 1% ensures reliability. The EL5108, in addition, represents the fastest fixed-gain amplifier currently available in the industry.
The EL5106 and EL5108 also incorporate an enable and disable function to reduce the supply current to 14 uA (typical) per amplifier. Applications for these new products include battery-powered equipment such as hand-held, portable devices; video amplifiers; cable drivers; RGB amplifiers; test and instrumentation equipment; and current-to-voltage converters.
