Intersil Introduces Radiation Hardened Linear Regulator Enabling Adjustable Output From Supply Up To 40 Volts DC
Guaranteed performance of 117 linear regulator function to 300K Rads
Latch-up immune and greatly reduced sensitivity to low dose rate effects
PALM BAY, FL, December 3, 1999 Intersil Corporation announced today its radiation hardened (Rad Hard) version of the industry standard 117 linear regulator. Intersil’s HS-117RH provides adjustable output from 1.2 volts (V) to 40V from a supply of up to 40V DC. The device offers a readily available, robustly radiation tested linear regulator, and is another addition to Intersil’s Star*Power family of Rad Hard power semiconductors designed for military and commercial space power systems applications.
PALM BAY, FL, December 3, 1999 Intersil Corporation announced today its radiation hardened (Rad Hard) version of the industry standard 117 linear regulator. Intersils HS-117RH provides adjustable output from 1.2 volts (V) to 40V from a supply of up to 40V DC. The device offers a readily available, robustly radiation tested linear regulator, and is another addition to Intersils Star*Power family of Rad Hard power semiconductors designed for military and commercial space power systems applications.
Constructed with Intersils dielectrically isolated Rad Hard silicon gate (RSG) process, the device is immune to single event latch-up. Specifically designed to deliver highly reliable performance in harsh radiation environments, the HS-117RH features incorporated circuitry that minimizes the effects of radiation and temperature on device stability. Vertical device process technology affords reduced sensitivity to low dose rate effects.
The device provides superior post radiation and temperature stability performance, with post radiation load regulation of 0.3 percent at 25 degrees Celsius and post radiation line regulation of 0.02 percent at 25 degrees Celsius. Temperature stability is at one percent typical over temperature.
About Star*Power
The Star*Power product family includes Intersils next generation Rad Hard MOSFETs, Rad Hard power management ICs and a developing Rad Hard DC to DC converter portfolio. Products currently include MOSFET drivers, bridge drivers, comparators, regulators and references, and the family will soon include Intersils GEN III Rad Hard MOSFET devices. To round out the Star*Power family, Intersil will offer a family of high efficiency DC to DC converters which are compliant to MIL-STD 461D, meet 100k RAD total dose, and mitigate single event effects. Intersils Star*Power products allow satellite manufacturers to minimize part count, utilize the advantages of distributed power design techniques and ensure the survivability of satellites in harsh radiation environments. Star*Power components exhibit rugged total dose radiation performance and single event effects immunity and are best employed when failure is not an option in spacecraft power systems. Star*Power information can be obtained by logging onto Intersils Web site at www.intersil.com, and accessing brochures BR118 and BR126.1.
Intersils radiation hardened IC and discrete devices are commercially available standard product items and are outstanding Commercial Off the Shelf (COTs) solutions for Satellite systems applications.
Availability
The Intersil HS-117RH is available now in QML levels V, Q, and T in three-lead TO-257 and SMD 0.5 packages to Standard Microcircuit Drawing 5962F99547.
