Intersil Introduces Radiation Hardened Full Bridge N-Channel FET Driver

PALM BAY, FL, January 18, 2000 — Intersil Corporation announced today its radiation hardened (Rad Hard), full bridge, N-Channel FET driver integrated circuit (IC). Intersil’s HS-4080ARH is suited for use in distributed DC power supplies, DC to DC converters and motor control applications. The device is immune to single event latch-up, is tested and guaranteed to 300k RADs total dose and is designed to greatly reduce sensitivity to low dose rate effects.


PALM BAY, FL, January 18, 2000 — Intersil Corporation announced today its radiation hardened (Rad Hard), full bridge, N-Channel FET driver integrated circuit (IC). Intersil’s HS-4080ARH is suited for use in distributed DC power supplies, DC to DC converters and motor control applications. The device is immune to single event latch-up, is tested and guaranteed to 300k RADs total dose and is designed to greatly reduce sensitivity to low dose rate effects.

The HS-4080ARH includes a TLL-level input comparator that can be used to facilitate hysteresis and pulse width modulation (PWM) modes of operation. A single HS-4080ARH device can drive medium voltage motors. Micro-stepping capability is enabled through a short minimum on-time that is required for driving high performance stepper motors.

Short propagation delays maximize control loop crossover frequencies and dead time. Precise control of the driven load can be achieved through the minimization of distortion by adjusting the crossover frequencies to near zero. The high enable (HEN) pin forces current to freewheel in the bottom two external MOSFETs, maintaining the upper power MOSFETs off.

Availability
The HS-4080ARH is immediately available in a 20 pin Flat Pack package. The device is available to Standard Microcircuit Drawing (SMD) 5962-99617.

Star*Lite Now Available
Intersil has also made available the industry’s first Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) Class T product screening flow for Rad Hard ICs. Star*Lite components are tailored for use in large commercial satellite constellations. The Star*Lite screening flow entails modified and/or reduced Class V screening operations and are tested and guaranteed to 100k RADs. These devices are available with an OEM minimum order quantity of 450 pieces and a minimum of 150 pieces via authorized Intersil distributors.
