Intersil Introduces Radiation Hardened 3.3V Quad Differential Line Driver and Receiver
IRVINE, CA, November 1, 2000 Intersil (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading developer of silicon technology for military and space integrated communications applications, today announced two new additions to its family of radiation hardened (Rad Hard) devices specifically designed to withstand the harsh effects of radiation. The HS-26CLV31RH 3.3V Quad Differential Line Driver and HS-26CLV32RH 3.3V Quad Differential Line Receiver were designed to function together as low voltage databus components for use in satellites, their subsystems and payload electronics.
Intersils HS-26CLV31RH driver accepts low-voltage CMOS inputs, with a minimum high-level input voltage (VIH) of 2.1V, and converts those inputs into RS-422 differential format. This format is more desirable for its noise tolerance characteristics in satellite databus applications. Unique circuitry puts outputs into a high-impedance mode when disabled or powered-down, thus maintaining signal integrity in multi-driver applications. The HS-26CLV32RH receiver converts the differential signals back into low-voltage CMOS outputs for processing. Their inputs are designed to remain high-impedance when the device is disabled or powered-down, which further ensures databus signal integrity.
"Intersil is the first company to deliver fully tested and guaranteed radiation hardened 3.3V versions of these devices to the space market," said Debra Timmerman, Space Products Marketing Manager at Intersil. "Space-bound devices represent a $200M market. Intersil meets the demand of this market by offering a proven portfolio of devices that helps form the backbone of satellite based integrated communications networks."
Technical Information
Designed and constructed with Intersils hardened AVLSI process, these devices provide highly reliable performance in harsh radiation environments. They are single event latch-up immune and provide a single event upset immunity of 100 MeV/(mg/cm2). All parameters are tested and guaranteed to 300 krad(Si) over the full military temperature range.
