Intersil Introduces 32 x 32 Video Crosspoint Switch with Industry's Highest Level of Integration
-- ISL59532 Features 320 MHz Bandwidth, Crosstalk of -85dB at 6 MHz and Differential Gain and Phase of 0.025 Percent/0.01 Degree
MILPITAS, CA, February 27, 2006 Intersil Corporation, a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog solutions, today announced the ISL59532 32 x 32 video crosspoint switch. This device is the first of its kind in the industry, integrating the four separate 16 x 16 crosspoint switches currently used, to create a 32 x 32 matrix (or two 32 x 16 switches). To further reduce board space and costs, the ISL59532 has an integrated DC-restore clamp on every input. Each output has a fast OSD (onscreen display) switch, again reducing the need for extra silicon around the device. This device is ideal for security video, video switchers and routers, KVM (keyboard, video, mouse), broadcast video and other video applications.
The ISL59532 is the first in a family of parts that will include 32 x16 and 16 x 16 switches, all with single-ended input and differential input versions, all using the same footprint, making it easy to scale designs up or down. Also, system level design is made easier by several features of the ISL59532. The gain of the output amplifiers can be individually programmed to a gain of plus 1 or plus 2 through the SPI interface. The same interface can be used to place any output into a high impedance tri-state, so that several 32 x 32 crosspoint switches can be linked together, creating even larger matrices.
Intersil is the first in the industry to offer this level of integration, said Kathryn Tucker, marketing manager for Intersils Video products group. The ISL59532 has higher integration than competitive devices, both with the number of input and output channels in one package, but also with its additional functions, such as DC-restore and its fast OSD switch. Additionally, the ISL59532 has very little crosstalk (-85dB), a significant improvement over competitive devices in the industry.
Key Features of the ISL59532
- 320 MHz bandwidth
- 0.025 percent differential gain and 0.05 degrees differential phase
- 0.1 dB flatness out to 50 MHz
- Crosstalk of -85dB
Target Applications
- Security video
- Video Switchers and routers
- KVM
- Broadcast video
From high-performance video amplifiers to differential line equalizers, Intersil's portfolio of video products can address any portion of the analog signal chain. The number and variety of video products on the market continues to grow. With the expansion of HDTV and high-resolution RGB (red, green, blue) signals, the most common point-to-point connection for a video signal is analog. Intersils video ICs provide many solutions for moving these signals around. Whether it is transmitting RGB down CAT-5 or switching 32 security video feeds, Intersil has a solution. Also, Intersils ISL5944x family extends the available bandwidth of RGB multiplexers on the market from 500 MHz up to 1GHz the first time this barrier has been broken. Intersil continues to deliver best-in-class video solutions for its customers, addressing every piece of the signal chain.
