Intersil Expands Telecom Hot Plug Controller Family with Advanced ICs
-- New Endura™ controllers offer programmability, improved monitoring and protection
IRVINE, CA, July 2, 2002 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced the Endura ISL6141, ISL6142, ISL6151 and ISL6152, new advanced additions to Intersils datacom/telecom negative-voltage hot plug power controller family. Designed for the telecommunications and data communications industries, these hot-plug ICs offer protection and help prevent system down time by allowing failed line cards and communications modules to be replaced while the system remains live and operating.
Intersils new hot-plug controllers are designed to protect cards and modules while providing hot swap capability in central offices, PBXs, Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs), digital loop remote terminals, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) routers, wireless base stations, Internet traffic routers, optical networking equipment and file servers.
Endura ISL6141/51 and ISL6142/52 Technical Description
- Operate over a -20 to -80 V range (-100 Vmax)
- Under-voltage and over-voltage protection to prevent startup before power is stable
- IntelliTrip dual-level current limiting provides accurate current limiting for 600 µs before shutdown during a fault or quick shutdown followed by a single soft start in the event of a hard fault (4X over-current limit) ISL6142/52 offer programmable current limit duration
- Soft start to eliminate start-up current surges
- Improved Power Good indicator monitors both drain and gate voltages to make decision
- Power Good indicator pin ISL6141 and ISL6151 are active-low while the ISL6142 and ISL6152 are active-high
- Industrial temperature range available for extreme environments
- ISL6141 and ISL6151 replace the LT1640L/H and LT4250L/H respectively
- ISL6142 and ISL6152 offer a real-time load-current monitor to accurately determine power dissipation in the load without the need for another resistor in the current path
