Intersil Expands Power IC Family Targeted for Video/Graphics Systems

IRVINE, CA, March 7, 2002 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for PCs, file servers and portable information appliances, today announced the new Endura ISL6529 dual regulator IC targeted for the video/graphics market. This small 14-lead SOIC dual regulator is ideal for graphics card applications to power both the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and SDRAM memory. The ISL6529 power solution saves manufacturers board space, parts costs and time-to-market while delivering unsurpassed quality and reliability for todays high performance graphics cards.
Todays high-end GPUs deliver amazingly high-resolution visual effects at blazing refresh speeds. This performance requires ever-increasing power consumption and the need for Intersils advanced power management technology. The ISL6529 includes one synchronous-buck PWM controller for high-current supply to the graphics processor unit and a lower-current linear regulator to supply power to memory circuits. Both regulators drive N-Channel MOSFETS. Other applications for the ISL6529 include powering application-specific ICs, embedded processors and various other DSP ICs.
ISL6529 Features
