Intersil Selected by FIC to Power All New PC Platforms

-- Leading PC maker chooses Intersil’s Endura power ICs to power CPUs, chip sets, graphics, memory and other on-board systems for new- and next-generation computing platforms

IRVINE, CA, November 11, 2002 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that Intersil’s Endura™ highly efficient and reliable power solutions have been selected by First International Computer, Inc. (FIC), one of the world’s largest motherboard and PC manufacturers, to power virtually all systems on a wide range of new and next generation computing platforms. Intersil is the exclusive provider of high-performance power solutions for all FIC PC systems including CPUs, processor/graphics chip sets, DDR memory and I/O across both Intel® and AMD™ based systems, including the new VRD10 and Hammer platforms.

Intersil products designed in by FIC for their Intel-based platforms include the ISL6556A, ISL6556B, and ISL6561, 2- to 4-phase VRM10 PWM controllers. These controllers provide the industry's tightest voltage accuracy, complete compliance to Intel's next-generation CPU core voltage tolerance requirements and the best phase-to-phase current and thermal balance. For AMD-based platforms, FIC is using Intersil’s new two phase ISL6569 and four-phase ISL6559 PWM controllers. These robust controllers work with any of Intersil’s MOSFET drivers such as the single-channel HIP6601B, HIP6603B and HIP6604B and dual-channel HIP6602B. Many other Intersil products are used on each platform to power chip sets, graphics, memory and I/O.
