Intersil Debuts Radiation Hardened 2.5V Voltage Reference
IRVINE, CA, September 25, 2000 Intersil (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for today’s integrated communications applications, today announced a radiation hardened (Rad Hard) 2.5-volt (V) voltage reference specifically designed for use in military and commercial communication satellite applications.
IRVINE, CA, September 25, 2000 Intersil (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of power management solutions for todays integrated communications applications, today announced a radiation hardened (Rad Hard) 2.5-volt (V) voltage reference specifically designed for use in military and commercial communication satellite applications.
The need for temperature-stable voltage references pervades analog electronics. High-resolution a/d and d/a converters require precision voltage references to ensure measurement accuracy. Power supply designs also depend on a stable voltage reference to maintain exact output voltages in mission-critical applications. The IS-1009RH, Intersils latest addition to its Star*Power family of radiation hardened power management devices, delivers accurate and stable voltage output.
"Communications satellite electronics represent a 200 million dollar market," said Tom Marshall, Product Marketing Manager for Space Products. "Intersil continues to respond to the power management demands of this industry. The 2.5V voltage reference offers an off-the-shelf option for designers. The device is radiation tested and fully guaranteed, eliminating the need for designers to conduct their own costly up-screening and radiation testing."
Innovative design techniques are used to achieve extremely stable performance over temperature and post-irradiation. Dielectric isolation processing and vertical device architecture provide latch-up immunity and a greatly reduced sensitivity to enhanced low dose rate effects, ensuring high reliability in harsh radiation environments. All parameters are tested and guaranteed to 300krad(Si) over the full military temperature range.
The device boasts 2mV (max) accuracy and guarantees 10mV (max) over both the full military temp range (55c to +125c) and the wide 400uA to10mA operating current range. Using the adjustment pin to calibrate system errors does not affect temperature performance. The IS-1009RH is fully compatible with industry standard 1009 and 136 type voltage references.
