Intersil Corporation Names New Fellow
Dr. Jim Vinson Recognized for Enhancing Intersil Technical Expertise
Milpitas, CA – October 29, 2010 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select: ISIL) today announced it has named Dr. Jim Vinson to the position of Intersil Fellow, the highest technical position available within the company. The Intersil Fellow program is designed to foster technical excellence throughout the company by formally recognizing the top technical contributors across Intersil and establishing them as role models, mentors and leaders across the broader Intersil technical community.
Intersil selected Dr. Jim Vinson for this technical honor through a careful evaluation process. For this honor, the company selects individuals who have contributed to technical excellence, taken leadership roles in the technical community and achieved individual accomplishments important to the company's technical success. Moreover, the company evaluated Dr. Vinson's contributions to patent development, his technical publishing and speaking accomplishments and his involvement in industry organizations, consortia and technical conferences.

About Dr. Jim Vinson
Dr. Vinson joined Intersil in 1984 as a Senior Reliability Engineer. He has proven to be a pioneer the field of ESD protection device design, characterization and implementation for a variety of processes used by Intersil. Dr. Vinson is a world recognized scientist with over 50 invited and refereed publications and speeches written on a variety of subjects related to device and process reliability, latch-up, EOS and ESD. He also authored or co-authored several patent applications.
In August 2010, Dr. Vinson was appointed as a Graduate Faculty Scholar in the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Central Florida. In addition, he was recently selected to write a book for Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. The topic of the book is Electrical Overstress which will provide an overview of the sources for EOS events and also detail the conduction mechanisms which lead to damage. The anticipated completion date for this book writing project is December 2012.
Dr. Vinson received his PhD from the University of Central Florida, an MSEE degree from North Carolina State University, and a BSEE degree from Auburn University in Alabama.
