Intersil Corporation Helps Employees and Central Florida Residents Recover from Hurricane Frances
-- Contributes $200,000 to local disaster relief fund
Milpitas, CA, September 15, 2004 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog semiconductors, is providing relief assistance to their employees working at its Palm Bay, Florida facility as well as other Brevard County, Florida neighbors seriously affected by Hurricane Frances.
We have about 1,000 Intersil employees and their families living in Florida, said Rich Beyer, Intersils president and CEO. It is important to us that our employees receive the assistance they need to recover from such a devastating natural event as Hurricane Frances. In addition, we are very concerned about the many other Brevard County residents who suffered serious home and property losses from this storm.
Intersil relief efforts include donating $200,000 to the Lend-A-Hand Fund to assist Brevard County residents affected by Hurricane Frances. According to FLORIDA TODAY newspaper officials, The donation is the largest ever made to the fund, a quarter-century old FLORIDA TODAY tradition activated whenever public need warrants. FLORIDA TODAY administers the Lend-A-Hand Fund in cooperation with Clear Channel Radio of Brevard and the United Way of Brevard County.
Intersil has established several assistance programs to aid employees while recovering from Hurricane Frances. These include general monetary donations, housing assistance and no interest loans. Intersil has also created a separate fund to collect donations from employees. We will match dollar-for-dollar, all employee donations up to $500, and all the proceeds will be turned over to the United Way and are designated for relief efforts in Brevard, concluded Beyer.
