Intersil Corporation Donates $50,000 to United Way of Brevard County Fire Response Fund
PALM BAY, FL, May 21, 2008 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog semiconductors announced that the company will donate $50,000 to the relief efforts taking place in Brevard County in response to the recent wildfires.
Intersil employs approximately 700 people from throughout Brevard County.
The donation will be sent to and administered by the United Way of Brevard Countys Fire Response Fund (http://uwbrevard.org/). The funds will be used to help local Brevard County residents and families impacted by the recent fires.
"We have a strong connection to Palm Bay and Brevard County", said Intersil Chief Executive Officer Dave Bell. "As a neighbor and partner with the people who were affected by these terrible fires, we feel a real need to help the community".
United Way of Brevard County President Rob Rains said the contribution would make an impact in his organizations ongoing efforts to help local residents recover from the devastating fires.
"We cant thank the team at Intersil enough for their support", said Rains. "This generous contribution will be used to assist those impacted the hardest by the recent fires in Palm Bay, enabling them to get back on their feet in the coming months".
Intersil has also made its individual employees a focus of concern, as well.
"The Intersil management team in Palm Bay is reviewing how the fires have impacted employees at our Palm Bay location", said Vern Kelley, Intersil Vice President of Human Resources. "As we continue to monitor the situation, we will provide the appropriate assistance as we have done in the past during disaster situations".
Intersil Corporation donated $200,000 to the FLORIDA TODAY Lend-A-Hand Fund in 2004 to assist employees and Brevard County neighbors recovering from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. That fund was co-administered by FLORIDA TODAY, the United Way of Brevard County and Clear Channel Radio of Brevard.
"We thank Intersil for the care and concern they continually show for others in our community", Rains said.
