Intersil Builds on Its Ultra Low ON-Resistance, Low-Voltage Switch Portfolio with New Quad Analog Switch
-- New switch offers industry’s lowest R(ON) and R(ON) flatness with the highest ESD withstand rating, very low power consumption and ultra-fast switching
MILPITAS, CA, September 16, 2004 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog solutions, today announced the ISL83699, a bi-directional, dual double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) analog switch that offers precise switching capability from a single 1.65 V to 3.6 V supply. The ISL83699 is a true bi-directional switch with less than 0.5 ohms of resistance over the full input signal range. It operates from a nominal single 3.3 V supply and comes in TSSOP and ultra small QFN packaging for space-constrained applications such as handheld and cell phone products.
The ISL83699 is especially well suited for portable battery powered equipment due to its low operating supply voltage (1.65 V to 3.6 V), low power consumption (2.7 uW max), low leakage currents (45 nA max), and the tiny QFN and TSSOP packages. The ISL83699 is built in an advanced sub-micron CMOS process and yet has up to 9 kV of ESD resistance, more than double the capability of its closest competitor. The ISL83699 is a guaranteed break-before-make Dual DPDT switch. When operated from a 3.3 V supply, the device has a typical R(ON) flatness of 0.06 ohms, making it ideal for use in low distortion audio paths such as in MP3 players in cell phones, and CD audio devices.
The ISL83699 consists of four SPDT switches. It is configured as a dual double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) device with two logic control inputs that control two SPDT switches each. This configuration is particularly useful for handling stereo signals such as midi and polyphonic tones, FM radio and MP3 signal sources in top-end cell phones and personal media players. The configuration can also be used as a dual differential 2-to-1 multiplexer/demultiplexer. The ultra low on-resistance and R(ON) flatness provide very low insertion loss and distortion for applications that require hi fidelity signal reproduction.
