Intersil and SpectraLink to Showcase Wireless<br>Voice-over-Internet Protocol at Networld+Interop 2000 in Atlanta

— SpectraLink’s PRISM-enabled NetLink™ phone combines
wireless LAN and Voice over IP

IRVINE, CA, September 26, 2000 —Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), the world’s leading provider of silicon technology for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), today announced that SpectraLink (NASDAQ: SLNK) is showcasing its wireless Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system this week at Intersil’s booth at Networld+Interop 2000 in Atlanta, Ga.

At Intersil’s booth (#4147), SpectraLink will allow booth visitors to experience first hand its NetLink Wireless Telephone System, an Internet-based telephony product that allows mobile workers to make and receive telephone calls over a shared wireless Internet infrastructure.

"By adding telephony capability to 802.11-based wireless LANs, SpectraLink’s NetLink phone further consolidates the management of a single broadband wireless backbone in a home or office," said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager of PRISM^® Wireless Products at Intersil. "This adds value to wireless LANs and makes them more cost-efficient and easier to manage. Other booth partners include Alcatel (wireless home DSL gateway), Absolute Value Systems (Linux-based wireless access point), and Sygate (wireless ISP sharing software). And throughout the booth, customer products from Cisco, Samsung, Sony, Casio, Hewlett Packard, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and others will be displayed and demonstrated.

Visitors to Intersil’s booth will witness live demonstrations of customer products performing VoIP, wireless transmission of DVD movies, interactive games, wireless Internet browsing and small wireless Internet appliances, including wireless digital camcorders, palmtops, laptops and Webpads. All products utilize Intersil’s 802.11- and 802.11b-compliant direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technology.

Adoption of PRISM WLAN Technology
Since introducing the PRISM WLAN chip set in 1996, over fifty companies have incorporated PRISM chips in more than 100 product designs.
