Intersil Addresses Agere Lawsuit
IRVINE, CA, October 18, 2002 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today offered comments on a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Agere Systems (NYSE: AGR.A, AGR.B).
We are very disappointed in Ageres announcement that it had filed a lawsuit against us, said Rich Beyer, president and CEO of Intersil Corporation. We feel that their claims of patent infringement are wholly without merit. We believe that our PRISM® WLAN chips do not infringe any valid and enforceable claims of the patents asserted by Agere and we intend to vigorously defend ourselves against these claims. In the meantime, we will continue to provide our customers the same high level of products and support that have become synonymous with the name Intersil Corporation.
