Elantec Ships Newest High Performance Laser Driver IC To Top Consumer Video OEMs
The EL6252C extends Elantec's popular laser driver family to offer a version that meets most price and performance requirements.
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, April 12, 1999 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, announced it is shipping high performance EL6252Cs to top Japanese Consumer Video OEMs in the emerging high-growth market segments of portable video consumer equipment such as cameras, camcorders and disc player/recorders.
The EL6252C is a higher performance pin-compatible version of the EL6272C which enables higher storage density drives. With the EL6252C, Consumer Video OEMs can develop ultra low power, small-slim profile, high density MD (MiniDisc1) form-factor portable optical drives for the recording, transfer and storage of video, data and audio information in portable consumer video equipment. The ultra small MSOP-10 package and its low power make it ideal for compact portable applications.
The EL6252C integrates two current channels used for the read and write power levels as well as the high frequency modulator (HFM) oscillator and the high-speed power output current driver. This innovative approach reduces board space, component count and design time, and allows flexibility to optimize the design.
The EL6252C offers industry-standard functions and compatibility that are compliant with all the Magnetic-Optical (MO) Write Specification Standards.
