Elantec Shipping EL6272C Laser Driver ICs To Top Consumer Video OEMs
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, March 8, 1999 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today announced the delivery of the its EL6272C to top Japanese Consumer Video OEMs in the emerging high-growth market segments of portable video consumer equipment (cameras, camcorders and disc player/recorders). With the EL6272C, OEMs have been able to develop ultra low power, small-slim profile, high density MD (MiniDisc1) form-factor portable optical drives for the recording, transfer and storage of video, data and audio information in portable consumer video equipment. The EL6272C's unique MSOP-10 ultra small package and its low power make it ideal for compact portable applications.
The EL6272C integrates two current channels used for the read and write power levels as well as the high frequency modulator (HFM) oscillator and the high-speed power output current driver. This innovative approach reduces board space, component count and design time, and allows flexibility to optimize the design.
The 10-pin MSOP package of the EL6272C, shipping in OEM production quantities, offers industry-standard functions and compatibility that are compliant with all the Magnetic-Optical (MO) Write Specification Standards.
