Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. Introduces The EL6274C High Performance Analog Laser Driver IC For The CD-R/RW Optical Disk Market
Single-Chip Monolithic Design Enables High Performance Solutions that Reduce System Costs and Save Board Space
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, January 25, 1999 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASD: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the EL6274C, a product design specifically for the emerging high growth CD-R/W optical disk drive market. The new EL6274C offers industry standard functionality and compatibility to enable next generation laser driver designs for the CD-R and the CD-R/W. The EL6274C joins Elantec's family of laser driver ICs which are targeted at the rapidly growing optical disk storage markets.
The EL6274C integrates the four (4) current channels needed for the read, erase, bias, and write laser drive power levels, and are compliant with the Orange Specification Standard for CD-R and CD-R/W write formats. The EL6274C also integrates the high-frequency modulator (HFM) oscillator and a high-speed power output current driver. This innovative integration reduces board space, component count, and design time and allows flexibility to optimize the design.
Steve Sacarisen, Elantec's Product Line Manager, Optical Products Group said, "The EL6274C offers a value-oriented solution to OEM's for its Optical Pick-Up Head (OPU) design. The EL6274C compliments our existing EL6257C and EL6259C products and positions our Optical Product Family to offer a solution that meets the market trend toward faster write speed performance."
The EL6274C is available in a 24-Pin QSOP package and is now in production.
