Elantec Introduces New Family Of DSL Drivers For Customer Premise Applications
Elantec CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) line drivers meet the application requirements for all ADSL and G.SHDSL technologies
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, March 22, 2001 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs and Central Office (CO) DSL line drivers, today introduced a new family of CPE line drivers.
The EL1509C, EL1510C and EL1511C each have high drive capability, very low distortion, low power dissipation and a very small footprint, making each an ideal choice for ADSL and G.SHDSL line driving applications. The EL1509C and EL1511C are intended for designs requiring single or dual rails with 5V to 12V maximum supply voltages. The EL1510C with a 5V to 24V maximum supply specification is intended for applications requiring higher voltage and lower transformer ratios. Both a thermal SOIC and Leadless Plastic Package (LPP) options are available for all three devices, providing optimal flexibility and thermal performance for high output drive applications.
The EL1509C and EL1510C provide a very large output swing and up to 270mA output drive capability while consuming only 7.5mA per amplifier supply current. The EL1511C has two control pins that enable the user to reduce the quiescent power while maintaining better than minus 80dBm THD performance at 150kHz. The EL1511C with up to 360mA output drive capability is optimized for the new symmetric DSL standard G.SHDSL.
Kaveh Parsi, Director of Marketing for Communications Products at Elantec, said, "Samples of the EL1509C, EL1510C and EL1511C have been sent to a number of DSL chipset manufacturers with whom we have worked closely and secured reference design sockets. Based on the excellent results, we believe that we will gain numerous design wins for high volume CPE modems, routers and gateways." Parsi added, "Elantec has become an established leader in Central Office line driver products. With our new CPE driver family and high-capacity manufacturing capability, we are poised to extend our market position into the Customer Premise business."
The EL1509C, EL1510C and EL1511C are now available for sampling. High volume production delivery is scheduled for May 2001. The new DSL driver family is priced for low cost CPE applications at $2.29 for EL1509C, $2.63 for EL1510C and $2.70 for EL1511C in 1000-piece quantities.
