Elantec Introduces Low-Profile, Quad MOSFET Driver
The EL7457CL in the low-profile LPP package is ideal for handheld LCD applications
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, May 13, 2002 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the new EL7457CL quad MOSFET driver, in the low profile LPP package. The high output power, high voltage operation and level shifting feature make the EL7457CL ideal for pin driving in test equipment, as well as for clock driving in many general purpose applications.
The EL7457CL features a low voltage, 3V to 5V input stage and an output stage capable of operating up to 18V. The output signal can also go negative with regard to the input by up to 5V. Operating at clock rates up to 40MHz, the EL7457CL is capable of driving a peak of 2A per output while switching between the two reference input voltages. The device can also be programmed to a high impedance output state.
Michael Jennings, Director of Strategic Marketing at Elantec said, The EL7457CL has been designed-in to a number of applications ranging from automatic test equipment, where it is used to drive the test pins, to LCD applications, where it is used to drive clock signals. By placing the device into the LPP package, the EL7457CL now offers a much lower profile for handheld LCD applications, as well as high thermal efficiency in ATE applications.
