Elantec Introduces Industry's First Integrated DC-Restore and Sync-Separator IC
New EL4501C streamlines video circuit design by integrating common input components
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, May 9, 2002 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the industrys first integrated DC-restore and sync-separator IC combining two functions that are usually provided by separate ICs.
With 100MHz bandwidth, the EL4501C is designed for input interface applications where it processes the video signal and extracts timing information, making it ready for further video processing. The EL4501C also includes a data-slice function for extracting embedded data information in the video signal. Applications include high-volume consumer products, as well as professional equipment, security video, data extraction and video effects equipment. The EL4501C operates from a single 5V supply, features inputs that go to GND and has rail-to-rail output capability.
Michael Jennings, Director of Strategic Marketing for Video and Amplifier Products at Elantec said, Separate DC-restore and sync-separator video functions are normally purchased in combination. By integrating them, Elantec can now offer our customers a board area saving and a reduced cost for this important video function. The specifications of the EL4501C make it ideal for high volume applications that require single 5V-supply operation. The new sync separator used in the EL4501C has been optimized specifically for applications such as consumer electronics where the quality of the incoming signal is not as clean as in professional applications.
The EL4501C is available in sample quantities now. It comes in a 24-pin TSSOP package and is priced at $4.50 in 1,000-unit quantities.
