Elantec Introduces Four New Amplifiers Including An Industry-Leading, Fast Triple CFA

Low-cost dual and triple amplifiers with 300MHz and 600MHz bandwidths facilitate next generation video designs and high-bandwidth applications

MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, September 27, 2000 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced four new current feedback amplifiers (CFA).

Adding to the existing EL5192C 600MHz family is the new dual EL5292C amplifier, and the EL5392C triple operational amplifier - the fastest triple currently available in the industry. Because of its speed, the EL5392C is particularly well suited to high-speed component video signal processing such as that found in computer video. The EL5292C and EL5392C also feature 3400V per microsecond slew rate and a fast enable/disable function.

Elantec has also added new dual, EL5293C, and triple, EL5393C, current feedback amplifiers to the lower power 300MHz family of the EL5193C. With just a 4mA supply current per amplifier, these parts are suited to lower power consumption applications such as portable devices.

Michael Jennings, Director of Strategic Marketing for Video and Amplifier Products at Elantec said, "These new high speed amplifiers complete our new current feedback families. With high bandwidths and slew rates, modest power consumption and very competitive prices, these amplifiers are ideal for next generation video designs as well as other high-bandwidth applications."

The new dual amplifiers are available in both the industry standard 8-pin SOIC package, as well as the MSOP 10-pin package, which has two additional pins that allow for a high-speed enable/disable function. The triples are available in the 16-pin SOIC and 16-pin QSOP packages, both with the enable/disable feature.

Sampling now, the price for the EL5292C is $2.72 each in 1000-piece quantities, with the EL5392C priced at $3.20 each in the same volume. The price for the EL5293C is $2.21 each, and the EL5393C is priced at $2.60 each, both at quantities of 1000 pieces.
