Elantec Expands Comparator Family With New High-Speed Dual Comparators
4ns and 6ns dual comparators target ATE applications
MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, March 29, 2001 -- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced four new high-speed comparators. The EL5281C and EL5283C are 6ns comparators; the EL5285C and EL5287C are 4ns comparators. These dual comparators are the newest members of Elantec's comparator family, which includes the EL5481C, EL5482C, EL5485C and EL5486C quad comparators.
The EL5281C and EL5283C feature a 6ns propagation delay and operate from 10mA of supply current per channel, and the EL5285C and EL5287C feature a 4ns propagation delay on 16mA of current per channel. All have an input voltage range of 5V to 12V and have common mode input ranges that go below the lower rail. The output sections have their own supplies and can be used to interface directly with 3V or 5V logic. Both devices also feature a latched output that can be used to hold the comparator output in its current state. The EL5281C and EL5285C feature two completely separate comparators; the EL5283C and EL5287C are configured as a window comparator, in which a single input signal is compared against a higher and lower limit.
Michael Jennings, Elantec Marketing, said, "The large supply range, fast response and level shifting capability of these comparators make them ideal for use in automatic test equipment (ATE) applications. Using the window comparators, available in the small 10-pin MSOP package, will save our customers board space as compared to standard dual comparators, a critical consideration in this type of high density application."
The EL5281C and EL5285C are available in 14-pin SOIC packages. The EL5283C and EL5287C window comparators are packaged in 10-pin MSOP packages. The price, in 1,000-piece units, for the 6ns EL5281C is $3.19; the EL5283C 6ns window comparator is $3.28; the 4ns EL5285C is $3.73; and the EL5287C window comparator is priced at $3.84.
